A Bonanza of Dolls

It’s a cool afternoon here in Tyler with a thunderstorm just passing over.   I can hear the rain pounding on the roof and the thuder in the distance as I type this blog. Summer is behind us and as I look out the window I can see leaves on oak trees turning golden.   Fall surely is upon us.

I have been busy. Just yesterday a put six new Southern Belle dolls on my website, dollsbyjoan.com.   The Little People dolls were not forgotten as four new ones wee added to the site.  That makes ten new dolls; see my announcement at  BONANZA.

Most of these dolls were created many months ago and they were in storage. With their addition I now have over 60 dolls on the Joan’s Dolls.   With the dolls on the website and the rest of the ones I have in storage I have over 100 dolls. I hope to have them all up for your review within two months. Of course  I’m continually creating new ones.   Here is a sample of the new ones:

New Line of Dolls Called Little People . . .

I have introduced a  New Line of Dolls Called Little People

Always wanting to be creative, I has introduced a new line of dolls I call Little People. These are dolls measuring less than 13 inches (33 cm). They are all adorable, cute and fun. Like Little Penny who is covered with pennies or Little Button smothered with over 120 buttons. The same creativity and quality are instilled in the Little People as in my Southern Belle Dolls.

Look for these delightful Little People dolls now available and more to come.

Another four dolls . . .

Another four Southern Belle Dolls  have arrived at Joan’s Dolls.       I tied last weeks record of four dolls in one week. This week I’m shooting for five!   Since I have been feeling better than in a long time I’m able to work on my Southern Belle Dolls a lot more.    Make hay while the sun shines they say.

So here are the latest arrivals: Miss Jasmine, Miss Samantha Jo, Miss Leslie and Miss Camellia.  This is a particular broad range of dolls at various prices.

My goal is get all my available dolls from past to preset listed on my website.   By the end of October I will have over 70 Southern Belle Dolls to select from.

Enough of the dolls, what’s happening around here? Weather not bad, clear skies with high 80’s to low 90’s in the daytime. We have had a couple thunderstorms, but the summer has been hot and dry this year. The days are getting noticeably shorter as fall is just around the corner.

We may be going to the west cost for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Will decide for sure in a couple weeks.

Till I blog again,

Wow! The most ever . . .

The temperature here in Tyler has come down to the high eighties and low nineties. It feels a lot better than 104 degrees.

The weather cooled down a little, but I haven’t. I put four new dolls on my website, the most ever in one week. It takes many hours to create each doll and no two are ever alike. Of course each one has their little story to tell.

This weeks debutantes are Miss Florence, Miss Molly, Miss Melinda and Little Kitty.

I’m hard at work on the September’s newsletter. It will be out next week. If you are interested in all the good news and articles you can signup to my newsletter.

If you enjoy my website why not Tell-a-Friend about it.

My best work

It sure is hot. Texas in August is not for the faint of heart. It has been between 97 and 104 for over two months now. And of course the humidity is high also. It hit 104 today. You can bet I’m inside with the air conditioner running and working on my dolls.

I have been crocheting for many years, but I must say, the two dolls I just placed on the website are the best I have ever done. At first glance they look the same, however, closer attention reveals how unique each is. Take a look for yourself at Joan's Dolls.

Meet Miss Mary Jane and Miss Daisy, my very best Southern Belle dolls.

Look for three more dolls by the end of this week. I’m on a roll.

See you soon. . .

Oh Boy! I fill behind...

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I posted to my blog. I was sick for a while then was on vacation in Colorado. But I’m back and ready to go. For starters, I have put three new dolls on my website Joan’s Dolls; Miss Dilma, Miss Joanna and Miss Paulette. Paulette was a very popular French name during the 1800’s in Louisiana.

I’m starting a newsletter. It will have articles about my dolls, features on Southern Plantations of Old, Southern cooking recipes and crocheting instructions just to name a few. You can signup here to receive my newsletter by email.
I’m working on two dolls now that are turning out to be some of my best work. They are just gorgeous. They’ll be up on the website soon.

See you soon

Still on schedule…

Spring is near. The dogwood trees are now in full bloom as will as the flowering fruit trees. Daylight savings time starts tonight.
Yesterday Bill put three more of my dolls on the website. Their names are Miss Alice, Miss Betty, and Miss Barbara. There are now 23 dolls to chose from.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

I’m on schedule.

I have been feeling better day by day and working on my dolls. Put three on the website last Saturday and will have three more up tomorrow. That will make 23 dolls for you to look at. Hope you like them and the little stories they each tell. Some stories are funny, some are serious and some make you cry. Each story is different, just like each doll is different.
Starting to think about our Spring trip to Colorado and Washington State. As soon as the last snow clears we will be on our way.
Meet Miss Linda, Miss Lynn and Miss Rinda

That's right. I just put three more dolls on the website, Miss Betsy, Miss Joann and Miss Luci Ann. My goal is to have three new ones every week until we head out to Colorado and Washington State.
In the spring we will be on the road again, but until then I'll be busy with my hobby.

Snow Fizzled Out

We were forecast to have 2 to 4 inches of snow here in Tyler, but it did not materialize. It just got cold.
I'm getting my strength back after our flop of a trip to Florida were I took ill for a while

A new doll on the website. Her name is Miss Martha. I also have some dolls on eBay. Search for "Southern Belle Dolls"
Hope to have three more dolls on the website this weekend.

Florida - The Sunshine State?

I don’t like to be negative, but our trip to Florida only had a couple days of sunshine. The North East and Mid Atlantic areas of the country had record-breaking cold weather. This weather front moved down into Florida. It was cold and raining most of the time.
Bill toured the Space Center and Cap Canaveral and we did visit Busch Gardens.

We returned home last Saturday. During our absence Tyler had 2 inches of snow. There were still some snowmen in the neighbors’ yards.

Watch my blog this week as I will be posting three new Southern Bell Dolls.

It’s off to Florida

It’s time to fire up the old motor home. This time we’re headed to Florida. The first week there we will visit with my grandson, Gary. The second week will be fun filled at Disney World, Holy land Experience, Universal Studios, Bush gardens and a Shuttle launch.

I just finished a doll in time to put it on the website before we leave tomorrow. I knew right away what to name her, Sunshine. Don’t you agree?
We will be gone for about three weeks so I won’t be bloging for a while.

Tornado Warning In Tyler

Last night we had a tornado warning here in Tyler. The sirens were screaming, the sky was full of lightning; the electricity was out as we huddled in a central room of the house with our two Yorkshire pets, “Freeway” and “Lucy”. Fortunately, although the air stood warm and still, no tornado touched down by us, although there was some minor damage in other areas of Tyler.

I’m back I the swing of things. Just finished Queen Mary VI queen off Crochetland. Took a breather from creating Southern Belle dolls and created Queen Mary. She’s on the website.

Well folks, it’s been quite a while since I posted to my log. I came down with a serious illness while vacationing in California and I’m just now getting back to my hobby. So here’s my latest creation Miss Veronica a beautiful Southern Belle doll. I really enjoy crocheting the dresses, hats, purses, etc. You can see more of my creations at DollsByJoan.com

Since Bill and I will be traveling to Florida soon I’m working hard to catch up on my promise to get a doll a week finished for y’all to see. Check back often as they will be popping up fast.
